Pacific Coast IslandsThe two major islands located off the Pacific coast of Taiwan are Green Island 綠島 and Orchid Island 蘭嶼. (For further information on these islands, see Tourism.)To the northeast of Taiwan are the Tiaoyutai Islets 釣魚臺列嶼, a tiny archipelago of Tiaoyutai 釣魚臺, Huangwei Islet 黃尾嶼, Chihwei Islet 赤尾嶼, Nan Hsiao-tao 南小島, Pei Hsiao-tao 北小島, and three neighboring reefs. The group has a total area of 6.3 square kilometers, and lies just 75 nautical miles northeast of Pengjia Islet 彭佳嶼, Keelung. These islets were officially included as Chinese territory as early as the Ming dynasty. Further Reading (in Chinese):
