Viewing Chinese Characters
The Republic of China Yearbook--Taiwan 2002 has Chinese characters
interspersed with the English text as an added benefit for those able to
read Chinese. However, if you're using a non-Chinese operating system to
view The Republic of China Yearbook--Taiwan 2002, the Chinese characters
will appear as either gibberish or a bunch of small squares. To view the
Chinese, software can be downloaded from the following websites to allow
non-Chinese operating systems to properly display Chinese characters:
In addition, for those using Internet Explorer, Language Support Packages
can be downloaded from the Microsoft homepage (http://www.microsoft.com)
that allow your English (or other language) version of Internet Explorer
to view Chinese characters. Simply download the Chinese (Traditional)
language support package from the Microsoft website and follow the instructions
on the Microsoft homepage for installation. In most cases, Internet Explorer
will automatically display the correct Chinese language characters for The
Republic of China Yearbook--Taiwan 2002. If the characters do not display
correctly, then:
- On the View menu,
click Encoding, and then click Auto-Select.
- Click the Refresh
button.
