Non-Partisan Solidarity Union

Established on June 15, 2004, the NPSU registered with the MOI two weeks thereafter and became the Taiwan's 106th political party. Led by Chairwoman Chang Po-ya張博雅, a former minister of interior, the party has garnered the support of 11 independent legislators. With 26 candidates running for local constituency and aboriginal seats and 6 others nominated for proportional representation seats, the NPSU will play a significant role in the 2004 Legislative Yuan election.

In its party charter, the NPSU vows to serve as a party for all people, with its concern focused on educational, social and economic issues. This party also aspires to become a buffer between the Pan-Green and Pan-Blue camp.
