Ecological Wonders

story photo

The traditional architectural forms found in Shanhou, Kinmen, were brought to the island by immigrants from Fujian Province's Zhangzhou and Quanzhou. Builders were hired from the Chinese mainland to imitate the Zhangzhou and Quanzhou styles, and the bricks and stones used were also imported from the mainland. Today, these steady, sturdy houses are another cultural asset to Kinmen National Park.(Ming-Yuan Yeh)
