Ternstroemia
gymnanthera are beautiful, small
evergreen trees or shrubs with dark brown bark. Their small,
dark green, leathery, smooth, glossy, and elliptical leaves
tend to cluster at the end of twigs and have red leafstalk.
Their flowers are simple, axillary, long-stalked, and light
yellowish-white in color, whereas their berries are globose
and turn red when mature. Although Ternstroemia gymnanthera
are a slow growing species that prefer warm weather, they
are quite hardy and able to endure harsh conditions such as
drought, excessive moisture, and high temperatures. |

gymnanthera are endemic to Taiwan
and can be found throughout the island's tropical areas in
mountainous regions at low and middle altitudes. |
