Cyclobalanopsis
glauca are evergreen fagaceae whose tray-like nutshells
consist of specialized involucre. Their nuts are ellipsoid
instead of pointed and are often transformed into small tops
by simply hammering a nail into their base. The tree's tender
leaves and twigs are covered with white hair, and their fruits-which
are 2-3cm long-turn from green to brown when ripening, which
usually occurs between October and December. Their wood is
hard and good for construction, especially for making railroad
crossties, spokes for wheels, and decorative garden structures. |
