| Profile |

Angelica morrisonicola
(Hayata) |
|
| Features: |
Angelica
morrisonicola are short, perennial herbal plants with
bipinnately compound leaves. Their small, light yellow flowers
are grouped together in an umbel, and their fruits fall after
autumn, leaving only bare stumps to stand in the winter wind
and the snow. Although a few grow on detritus, most Angelica
morrisonicola grow amongst the Juniperus Sqyanata Lamb
shrubs found on Jade Mountain. Their seeds sprout between
May and June, at which time they are usually only seen on
the fringes of Juniperus Sqyanata Lamb shrubs. By July
and August, however, they have usually grown taller and risen
above the crown of Juniperus Sqyanata Lamb shrubs,
creating a strikingly beautiful scene as they sway in the
breeze. |
| Habitat: |
A common
plant in Taiwan's high-altitude mountainous areas, Angelica
morrisonicola are distributed primarily in mountains above
3300m in elevation. |
