Pemphis acidula
Profile
Scientific name: Pemphis acidula (J.R.& G.Forst.)

Features: Pemphis acidula are extensively branched evergreen plants whose branches and leaves are dark green in the summer and yellowish-green in the winter. Their tender, velvety, succulent leaves are oblong in shape, 1.5-2.5cm long, 0.5-1.5cm wide, grow opposite to one another, and do not have leafstalks. Their wrinkled flowers are also velvety, are white or pinkish-white in color, and have six petals. The road running alongside Green Island's seashores has many beautiful scenes with Pemphis acidula in the foreground and coral reefs in the background.
Habitat: Pemphis acidula are distributed throughout tropical coastlines around the world. In Taiwan, they occur primarily in shrubs closely attached to reefs along the seashores of the Hengchun Peninsula, Orchid Island, Green Island, and Hsiao Liuchiu Island.
