Isoetes
taiwanensis are an aquatic fern whose Chinese name, "Taiwanese
water chives," is derived from their chive-like leaves.
They grow to a height of roughly 7-25cm, and are found primarily
in Dream Lake on Mount Yangming. In the winter, when the water
level in Dream Lake is relatively high, the Isoetes taiwanensis
are a submerged plant. In the summer, however, when the water
level is lower, they become emergent aquatic plants. Their
sori mature between August and October and break between December
and February, releasing their spores to be distributed by
the winds. |

|
Isoetes
taiwanensis are unique wetland plants found only on Mount
Yangming in northern Taiwan, mostly concentrated in Dream
Lake. |
