The
South China forest skink has a maximum body length of about
8cm and a tail length that can be up to 1.5 times its body
length. The lizard's underside is white, its back is grayish-brown,
and it has dark, black stripes running along both sides that
originate from its snout and eyes and extend all the way to
its tail. |
| Behavior: |
South
China forest skinks are diurnal reptiles that feed primarily
on insects and other small invertebrates. They are active
on the fringes of forests, in thin bushes, and on exposed
rocks and gravel located in muddy areas. Their tails are easily
detachable. |
| Habitat: |
South
China forest skinks can only be found in Taiwan's Kaohsiung,
Pingtung, and Taitung Counties. |
