Scientific name: Orthetrum sabina

Features: Dragonflies have abdomens that are 36-40mm long and bodies that are 50-60mm long. Males have light, yellowish-green thoraxes as juveniles that become yellowish-green with black stripes once the insects have attained sexual maturity and become adults. Their abdomens are black with white markings, and their wings are transparent and colorless.
Behavior: Dragonflies are quite common in Taiwan and usually emerge between March and November. They are often seen near still bodies of water, such as in mountain ditches, paddy fields, ponds, and swamps.
Habitat: Dragonflies live anywhere from low to middle altitudes.
